Butter Boulders is a bouldering area in Colorado's White River National Forest, within the Sopris Ranger District and managed by the Forest Service. It sits among a cluster of climbing spots, with Redstone Boulders and Stein Boulder each about 0.1 mile away. The area has eight bouldering routes, all rated on the V scale from V0 to V8. The easiest is Butter at V0, and the hardest is Dancing with a Fat Girl at V8. Slab o' Butter is a V1 boulder with a first ascent by Justin Lewis. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July highs around 82°F with lows near 48°F, while winter highs stay in the mid-30s. Redstone Family Campground is about 0.7 mile away, and East Creek is about 0.8 mile away. Avalanche Campground and Avalanche Creek are both about 3.6 miles off.
