Silverthorne is a mountain biking route in Colorado's White River National Forest, within the Dillon Ranger District. The ride covers about 4 miles, starting at roughly 8,739 feet and climbing to about 9,035 feet, for a total elevation gain of 176 feet. The route also has a steeper drop of about 250 feet, with the most pronounced grade of 44% coming around 3.3 miles in. Summer is the most comfortable time to ride. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Dillon show July highs around 75°F with lows near 38°F, and September highs around 66°F. Winter is much colder, with January highs near 31°F. The Blue River and the Blue River Parkway, both about 0.2 miles away, make an easy pairing for a ride. Arctic Placer, roughly 0.8 miles off, and Heaton Bay Campground, about 2 miles away, round out the options for more time on the trail or a place to stay.
