Orahood is a short, easy out-and-back hike in the Dillon Ranger District of Colorado's White River National Forest, about a mile from the Salt Lick Trailhead. The trail rises about 114 feet from its low point of 9,080 feet to a high of 9,196 feet, making it a gentle climb that works well as a quick outing or a stop on the way to other spots in the area. The route is natural-surface and open to both horses and bikes, so riders and equestrians can take it as is. It stays open year-round, and the Forest Service manages the land. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Dillon show July highs around 75°F with lows near 38°F, while winter highs stay in the low 30s. The trail sits close to several other destinations. Lake Hill Comm Site and Sayre are both within a quarter mile, the Blue River is about 0.7 miles away, and Heaton Bay Campground is roughly 1.2 miles off.
