Tramway is a 4.4-mile out-and-back hike in Colorado's South Platte Ranger District, part of the Pike and San Isabel National Forests. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail's natural surface and moderate difficulty make it a straightforward option for a day on foot. The route rises from about 7,186 feet to about 7,672 feet, a gain of roughly 500 feet, and it is rated moderate. The most comfortable stretch for a visit runs from June through September, when typical averages from the nearby Bailey weather station sit in the mid-70s for highs and bring the fewest wet days of the year. Winter is much colder, with January highs around 38°F and lows near 9°F. The trail is open year-round, and it works well as a base for exploring the surrounding area. Gashouse Gulch is about 0.4 miles away, and the Baldy mountain biking area is about 0.6 miles off. Buffalo Campground and Meadows Group Campground are both within about a mile and a half.
