Rampart Reservoir is an easy out-and-back hike in the Pikes Peak Ranger District of the Pike and San Isabel National Forests in Colorado, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is about 21.6 miles long, with a low point of 8,996 feet and a high of 9,134 feet, and it gains about 23 feet in elevation. The trail surface is natural. The most comfortable months for a visit are typically June through September, when typical averages from a nearby weather station at Ruxton Park run from highs around 70°F in June to about 74°F in July, with September easing to around 66°F. July and August also bring the most wet days, about 16 each month. The Rampart Reservoir Dikeside Trailhead is the parking for this route, and the trail is open year-round. The Homestake Fishing Site sits just 0.1 mile away, and the Dikeside Boating Site is about 0.6 mile off. Nichols Reservoir and the Backdoor hike are each roughly 0.7 mile away.
