Maximum Joy Boulder is a bouldering area in California's Inyo National Forest, within the White Mountain Ranger District. It sits on city land, and the surrounding area is a cluster of climbing spots, with The Wedge Boulder and the Central - Maximum Joy Area both about 0.1 mile away. The bouldering here is all on the V scale, with six routes ranging from V1 to V5. The easiest are The World Is My Oyster and Welcome To The Pleasure Dome at V1, and the hardest is Frankie Says at V5. Maximum Joy and Relax are both V2. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Mammoth Lakes show July highs around 78°F with lows near 49°F, while winter highs stay around 41°F. Tuff Campground is about 2.6 miles away, and Lower Rock Creek is a hike about 2.7 miles off. French Camp and the Sand Canyon Trail are both within about 5 miles.
