Dihedrals is a climbing area in California's Inyo National Forest, within the White Mountain Ranger District. It sits on city land, and its name points to its feature: a cluster of dihedral formations that make the area a natural spot for sport and trad climbing. The climbing here ranges from the low 5.6s up to the high 5.12s, with a median of about 5.10b. Sport climbing dominates, with 21 sport routes and six trad routes among the 27 listed. Some of the area's named routes include Wannabe Gangsta at 5.6, One Armed Bandit at 5.10b and Bushfire at 5.12d. Cracked Towers and Gotham City, both climbing areas, lie just 0.1 mile away. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. A nearby weather station in Bishop, about 16 miles away and roughly 1,600 feet lower, records typical averages of highs around 74°F in April and 78°F in October. Summer there averages highs near 100°F, and winter lows dip to the mid-20s. For more to do, the Lower Rock Creek Trail, Section 3, is about 2.7 miles away, and Sand Canyon offers mountain biking at about 3.8 miles. Tuff Campground and Holiday Campground are both within about 6 miles.
