Chuckwalla Wall is a climbing area in California's Inyo National Forest, within the White Mountain Ranger District. The land is managed as city land. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to climb. Typical averages from a nearby weather station run from highs around 76°F and lows near 42°F in May to highs around 71°F and lows near 33°F in October. That station sits about 1,200 feet below the wall, so temperatures on the rock run cooler. The area has eight routes, seven of them sport and one trad. Grades range from 5.10b to 5.11c, with the Chuckwalla Wall route at 5.11a and Trigger Finger at 5.11c. Wounded Knee is the only trad route, a 5.10b first climbed by P. Green and J. Wilson in 1989. North Gorge is just 0.1 mile away, and Dihedrals and Cracked Towers are each about 0.2 mile off. For a walk, Lower Rock Creek is roughly 3 miles away.
