Lone Pine Area is a climbing area in California's Golden Trout Wilderness, within the Mt. Whitney Ranger District of Inyo National Forest. The Forest Service manages the land, and the area sits inside designated wilderness, which sets it apart as a backcountry destination rather than a developed climbing park. The climbing here is alpine, and the single route listed is Fishstick Buttress, a 5.8. That makes it a straightforward objective for climbers looking for a single alpine pitch in the high country. Several other outings lie close by. South Fork Cottonwood Creek and the Cottonwood Pass Trail are both within a mile, and the Cirque Lake mountain biking area is about a mile away. Cottonwood Lakes Walk In Campground, roughly 2.5 miles off, offers a place to camp.
