The Black Hole is a bouldering area on Bureau of Land Management land in California's Eagle Lake Field Office, about a tenth of a mile from the Pinkland climbing area. It sits among a cluster of climbing spots, with Cow Skull Boulders and The West Face within a mile and Homestead Canyon about a mile away. The area is a bouldering destination with five routes, all rated between V1 and V4 on the V scale. Black Hole is the namesake route, a V1 boulder problem first climbed by Chad Suchoski in 2019. Black Velvet and Inane are both V3, and Head Start is the hardest at V4. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 70°F and October highs around 67°F, while July and August average in the upper 80s. That station sits roughly 1,400 feet lower than the boulders, so temperatures at the crag run cooler.
