The Alcove is a climbing area in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area in California, managed by the National Park Service. It sits within the recreation area's network of climbing spots, and no fee is charged to visit. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show April highs around 78°F and October highs around 85°F, while July and August average in the mid-90s. That station sits well below the area, so temperatures at the Alcove run cooler. Several other climbing areas lie about 0.1 mile away, including Treasure Towers, Kamikaze Cave and Test Site. The Mishe Mokwa Trail is about 0.4 mile off, and Circle X Ranch Group Campground is about 1.2 miles away.
