Soda Creek is a mountain biking route in California's Inyo National Forest, within the Mt. Whitney Ranger District. The Forest Service manages the land, and the ride covers about 2.5 miles with a 500-foot elevation gain, climbing from a low point of 7,871 feet to a high of 8,362 feet. Summer is the most comfortable time to ride. Typical averages from the Lodgepole weather station, about 39 miles away, show July and August highs near 76°F with lows in the mid-40s and only a couple of wet days a month. That station sits roughly 1,600 feet lower than the route, so temperatures on the climb run cooler. The Old Jordan Dennison hike starts less than a mile away. Mountain bikers can also ride the Bigdry Mdw-Litldry Mdw Cutoff and Long Canyon, both about 1.4 miles off, and the River Springs Cutoff #1 trail is about 1.9 miles away.
