Woodchuck Lake Loop is an 8-mile out-and-back hike in California's John Muir Wilderness, within the High Sierra Ranger District of Sierra National Forest. The trail climbs from about 8,750 feet to about 10,025 feet, a total gain of 1,300 feet, and is rated hard. The Forest Service manages the land, and the route is natural-surfaced, with horses allowed and bikes not. The trail is open year-round, and the surrounding wilderness makes it a destination for a full day on foot. The climb is a steady one, and the high point sits well above the starting elevation. Nearby, Marsh Lake and Crown Valley are both within about 2 miles. The North Fork Kings River offers canoeing about 3 miles away, and Voyager Rock campground is roughly 7.6 miles off.
