Woodchuck is a hard hike in the High Sierra Ranger District of Sierra National Forest in California, managed by the Forest Service. The route is an out-and-back that climbs from about 7,200 feet to roughly 10,300 feet, with a total elevation gain of 3,269 feet over a distance of about 24 miles. The trail is natural-surface and allows horses, and it is not an accessible route. It is open year-round, so you can plan a trip for any season. The Woodchuck Trail and Cliff Camp both lie about 1.2 miles away, and the Dr. Seuss Wall climbing area is at a similar distance. For paddling, the North Fork Kings River is about 1.4 miles off.
