Volcano Meadow is a hard hike in the Golden Trout Wilderness, part of the Mt. Whitney Ranger District of Inyo National Forest in California. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is about 8.7 miles long, with a one-way elevation gain of 751 feet. The route starts at a low point of about 8,400 feet and climbs to roughly 9,100 feet. The trail is natural-surface and not accessible. Horses are allowed, but bikes are not. The Golden Trout Creek Trail begins just 0.1 mile away, and the Ramshaw Meadow Trail and Kern Peak Trail are each about 0.8 mile off. Siberian Pass lies about a mile away.
