Tamarack Lakes Pack Sta. C is an easy hike of about 2.2 miles on natural surface in the White Mountain Ranger District of Inyo National Forest, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is an out-and-back that gains about 270 feet, from a low point of about 9,800 feet to a high of around 10,100 feet. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical July averages from a nearby weather station run to a high of 71°F and a low of 38°F, and the trail is open to both bikes and horses. The closest neighbors are Mono Pass Pack Station, about 0.2 miles away, and Starr Wall, a climbing area about 0.4 miles off. Mosquito Flat Backpacker Campground and Rock Creek Lake Campground both sit within a mile.
