Seven Gables is a hard hike of about 2 miles in the John Muir Wilderness, part of the High Sierra Ranger District of Sierra National Forest in California. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is a natural-surface out-and-back that gains about 560 feet from a low point of roughly 10,090 feet to a high of about 10,670 feet. The trail is not accessible, and bikes are not allowed. It lies within designated wilderness, so plan for a backcountry outing. Seven Gables Trail is about a mile away, and Sandpiper Lake is about a mile off. Farther out, Bear Creek offers canoeing and Merriam Peak offers climbing, both about 4.6 miles away.
