Oxidine West is an easy out-and-back hike in the Calaveras Ranger District of Stanislaus National Forest in California, about 2.5 miles long with a total elevation gain of 796 feet. The trail rises from a low point of 1,946 feet to a high of 2,770 feet, and it is managed by the Forest Service. The route is natural-surfaced and open to both horses and bikes, so it works for riders and pack animals as well as hikers. It is a year-round trail, and the nearest town is Groveland, about 25 miles away. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Groveland show May highs around 73°F and October highs around 74°F, while July and August average about 91°F. Cone Hill is less than a mile away, and the Highway 4 Corridor fishing area is about 1.5 miles off. Rattlesnake and the Arnold Rim Trail are both within about 3 miles.
