Obelisk is a short, out-and-back hike of about a mile in the John Muir Wilderness, inside the High Sierra Ranger District of Sierra National Forest in California. The route runs from a low point of about 8,717 feet to a high point of about 9,383 feet, with a total elevation gain of about 650 feet. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is rated easy. The trail is on natural ground, and horses are allowed. Bikes are not. It is not an accessible route. The hike makes a convenient add-on to a day in the area. Upper Geraldine Trail lies about a third of a mile away, and Rogers Creek is about 0.4 miles off. Farther out, Convict Flat Campground is about 7 miles away, and Tehipite Dome offers climbing roughly 5 miles from the trail.
