Indian Basin is an easy, short hike in the Hume Lake Ranger District of Sequoia National Forest in California, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is about 1.2 miles long, with a one-way elevation gain of 86 feet, and it makes a simple out-and-back. The route is paved and accessible, and bikes are allowed. The trail starts at about 5,868 feet and reaches a high point of about 5,935 feet. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Grant Grove weather station show July and August highs around 79°F with lows near 52°F and only about one wet day a month. Winter is much colder, with highs in the mid-40s and lows in the mid-20s. Princess campground sits just 0.3 miles away, and Hume Lake Campground is about 2 miles off. The Cherry Gap hike is 1.8 miles away, and Hume Lake offers fishing about 2.2 miles from the trail.
