New Army Pass is a hard hike in the John Muir Wilderness, part of the Mt. Whitney Ranger District of Inyo National Forest in California. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is a natural-surface out-and-back that climbs from about 10,457 feet to about 12,322 feet over roughly 9.6 miles. The one-way gain is 1,871 feet. The trail is open to horses and is not accessible. Bikes are not allowed. Several other destinations sit close by. Cottonwood Lakes and Little Cottonwood Creek are both within a mile, and the Golden Trout Camp Trail is about 0.7 miles away. Cottonwood Lakes Walk In Campground is about 2.7 miles off.
