Almanor Cross is a short, easy hike in the Almanor Ranger District of Lassen National Forest in California, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is about a mile long, with a total elevation gain of about 10 feet, and it's an out-and-back route that starts and ends at nearly the same point, around 4,550 feet. The trail is paved and allows bikes, so it works for a quick walk or a ride. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Canyon Dam weather station show July highs around 86°F with lows near 50°F and only about one wet day in the month, while winter brings highs in the low 40s and roughly 11 wet days a month. Almanor North and South Campgrounds sit just 0.1 mile away, and Almanor Boat Launch is about 0.2 mile off.
