Silver Valley is a Forest Service campground in the Calaveras Ranger District of Stanislaus National Forest in California. It sits within the national forest's recreation sites, and the land is managed by the Forest Service. The site has vault toilets, and a fee is charged for use. The closest neighbors are Highland Creek, a hike about 0.1 mile away, and Lake Alpine Recreation Area, a fishing spot about 0.2 mile off. Pine Marten campground and the Lower Woodchuck Trail are also within a quarter mile. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July highs around 75°F with lows near 49°F, and only about two wet days a month from June through September. Winter is cold, with January highs around 36°F and lows near 23°F. Lake Alpine Recreation Area and the North Fork Mokelumne River, about 3.6 miles away, are the closest options for fishing and paddling. Climbers can head to Spicer Reservoir, roughly 5 miles off.
