Brimstone OHV Campground is a Forest Service site in the American River Ranger District of Tahoe National Forest in California, about 12 miles from Georgetown. It sits in a cluster of Forest Service recreation sites, with Forbes and Forbes Creek campgrounds and the Mountain Chief (Loop 3) and Serpentine (Loop 4) hikes all within about a mile and a half. The land is managed by the Forest Service, and no fees are required to use the site. Vault toilets are the only amenities on site. The Georgetown weather station, about 12 miles away and roughly 900 feet lower, records typical summer highs in the low 90s with lows in the low 60s, while September is milder at around 86°F by day and 57°F at night. Winter stays cold, with typical January highs near 52°F and lows around 36°F. The Sugar Pine Boat Ramp is about 2 miles away for lake fishing, and Eldorado Creek, about 3.7 miles off, offers canoeing. Giant Gap campground is roughly 2.6 miles away.
