Boulder Gulch Campground sits at 2,650 feet in the Kern River Ranger District of Sequoia National Forest, managed by the Forest Service. It is a developed campground with 78 camping sites, potable water, flush toilets, a fish cleaning station and a playground. The site is popular for fishing, and the maximum RV length is 45 feet. Reservations are optional, but required on holiday weekends. Campfire permits are needed for campfires, barbeques and camp stoves, and they can be obtained at a local ranger station or online at preventwildfireca.org. All developed campground areas on the forest operate under a concessionaire permit. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show April highs around 73°F and October highs around 81°F, while July and August average highs near 98°F. Climbers will find Campground 61 and Central Boulder about 0.1 mile away, and Isabella Peak Lookout is about half a mile off. Lake Isabella, a fishing spot, lies about a mile away.
