Womble Trail North is a hard hike in the Ouachita National Forest's Oden Ranger District in Arkansas, about 2.5 miles from the town of Story. It is a long, steady climb on a natural-surface trail that goes out and back, with a total elevation gain of about 3,285 feet and a high point of 1,160 feet. The route is 24 miles long, and the climb starts right away, with the steepest stretch at about 0.1 mile in, reaching a grade of 20 percent. That makes the hike a serious commitment, and the estimated time is about 9.5 hours. Spring and fall are the most comfortable seasons. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show October highs around 75°F with lows near 49°F, while July and August average highs of 93°F.
