Mg High Mtn Loop A is an easy, 2.35-mile out-and-back hike in the Bayou Ranger District of the Ozark-St. Francis National Forest in Arkansas, about 3.6 miles from the town of Treat. The trail is managed by the Forest Service and has a natural surface, and it is open to both horses and bikes. The route rises from about 1,229 feet to about 1,444 feet, with a total gain of 584 feet over the round trip. The steepest stretch comes at about mile 1, where the grade reaches 16 percent. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show October highs around 72°F with lows near 52°F, and April highs around 70°F. That station sits about 600 feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the route run a little cooler.
