Split Rock Area is a bouldering area in Phoenix South Mountain Park, on city land in Phoenix, Arizona. It sits among a cluster of climbing spots, with several other boulders and the Guadalupe Perimeter Trail all within about a tenth of a mile. The area is a bouldering destination, with seven routes listed, all of them boulders. The grades run from V0 to V3, with V3 being the hardest. The routes include Nothin' To It (V0), Lost In Space (V2), and Altered States (V3), and the first ascents of most of them are credited to Flying Zebra. Winter and early spring are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in South Phoenix show January highs around 67°F and lows near 42°F, while summer highs climb into the low 100s. The station sits a few hundred feet lower than the park, so temperatures at the boulders run a little cooler. Other climbing is right next door, with Bittersweet Boulder and Crown Boulder each about 0.1 mile away. The Guadalupe Perimeter Trail and the Young Man Trail are also close by for a walk.
