The Jungle is a bouldering area in Arizona's Santa Catalina Ranger District, part of Coronado National Forest. The Forest Service manages the land. The name suggests a dense, compact cluster of problems, and indeed the area is packed with boulder routes that range from V0 to V7, with most around V2. For climbers who like to bolt up a few problems before heading back to the car, the closest neighbors are Cataract Boulders, just 0.1 mile away, and Green Slabs (South Face) and Andy Cook Wall, each about 0.2 mile off. The Bug Springs mountain biking trail sits 0.7 mile away for anyone who wants to pair a session with a ride. The most comfortable months for a visit are typically May and September, when typical highs run about 71 and 75 degrees, according to averages from the Mt Lemmon Willow Canyon weather station. That station sits roughly 1,400 feet lower, so temperatures at The Jungle run cooler. Winter is cold, with typical highs near 50 degrees and lows around freezing. Among the boulders listed, Swallowed is the easiest at V0, Heart of Darkness is V5, and Elephant is the hardest at V7.
