Bishop is a climbing area in the Santa Catalina Ranger District of Coronado National Forest in Arizona, managed by the Forest Service. It sits among several other named climbing areas, with King and Knight each about 0.1 mile away, and One Day Wall at the same distance. That makes it an easy cluster to build a day around, with multiple crags close together. The climbing here is sport and mixed, with grades ranging from 5.9 to 5.12b. Among the routes are Castle at 5.9, Cornickopia at 5.10 and Heelium at 5.12a/b. The mixed route Nuts and Bolts is 5.10-. Spring and fall are the most comfortable seasons to climb. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Mt Lemmon Willow Canyon show highs around 71°F in May and 68°F in October, while winter highs sit near 50°F and lows around 34°F. That station sits about 1,300 feet lower than the area, so temperatures at Bishop run cooler. Other options close by include the Bug Springs mountain biking trail, about a mile away, and Gordon Hirabayashi Campground, roughly 1.5 miles off.
