The Chessman Area is a climbing area in the Santa Catalina Ranger District of Coronado National Forest in Arizona, managed by the Forest Service. It sits among several other climbing spots, with King, Knight and One Day Wall each about a tenth of a mile away. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Mt Lemmon run to highs around 71°F in May and 75°F in September, while winter highs sit near 50°F. That station sits roughly 1,300 feet lower than the Chessman Area, so temperatures here run cooler. Gordon Hirabayashi Campground is about 1.5 miles away, and the Sycamore Reservoir Trail #39 is about 1.6 miles away. The Bug Springs mountain biking trailhead is about 0.9 miles away.
