Echo

Echo is a sport climbing area in the Pusch Ridge Wilderness, part of the Santa Catalina Ranger District of Coronado National Forest in Arizona. The Forest Service manages the land, and the area sits within designated wilderness. The climbing here is all sport, with nine routes spread across a range of grades from 5.9 to 5.11c. Among them are Stop the Steel at 5.9, Double Feature at 5.10 and Double Trouble at 5.11c. The routes were first ascended between December 2020 and May 2021 by climbers including JBaker and JWodraska. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Mt Lemmon Willow Canyon, about 4 miles away, show May highs around 71°F and October highs around 68°F, with lows near 50°F. That station sits roughly 500 feet lower than the climbing area, so temperatures at Echo run a little cooler. The Dragon's Den and Lucky's Boulder are both about 0.2 miles away, and the Aspen hike is a similar distance. For an overnight stay, Spencer Canyon campground is about 0.9 miles off.
