Avalon is a climbing area in Arizona's Pusch Ridge Wilderness, within the Santa Catalina Ranger District of Coronado National Forest. The Forest Service manages the land, and the area sits among several other climbing spots, including Booker's Dome and Rappel Rock, each about 0.1 mile away. The climbing here is a mix of sport and trad routes, with 20 sport routes and 9 trad routes among the 29 listed. Grades run from 5.3 to 5.12, with the median around 5.9. Sport climbers will find routes like Merlin's Miracle (5.7) and The Quest (5.10+), and the hardest is Forged With Ancient Metal at 5.12. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Mt Lemmon Willow Canyon show May highs around 71°F and October highs around 68°F, while winter highs sit near 50°F.
