Area 2 is a bouldering area in the Kachina Peaks Wilderness, part of the Flagstaff Ranger District of Coconino National Forest in Arizona. The Forest Service manages the land, and the area sits within designated wilderness. The climbing here is bouldering, with one route listed: Gas Works, a V4 boulder problem. The surrounding area is packed with other climbing and hiking. Top Area, Tiger Wall Area and Anvil Area all lie about 0.1 mile away, and the Kachina Access Trail is the same distance off. For timing, late spring and early fall are the most comfortable. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Ft Valley show May highs around 71°F and October highs around 66°F, while July and August bring the most wet days. That station sits about 1,400 feet lower than the wilderness, so temperatures up high run cooler.
