The 8B Boulder is a bouldering area in Arizona's Coronado National Forest, within the Santa Catalina Ranger District. The Forest Service manages the land, and the area sits among a cluster of climbing spots, with Gollum's, Gandalf's Gorge and Rick Ross all within about a tenth of a mile. The boulders here are the main draw. Fourteen routes are listed, all rated on the V scale and covering a wide range from V0-1 to V12-13. Among the named ones, Bud the Weiser is an easy V0-1, Bear Down is a V10-11, and Bear Down SDS is a V12-13. The median grade is V8+. Spring and fall are the most comfortable seasons to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Mt Lemmon Willow Canyon show highs around 71°F in May and 68°F in October, while January and December highs sit near 50°F. North Sabino Canyon Park is about 0.3 miles away, and the Aspen hike is about 0.1 miles off. For camping, Spencer Canyon is about a mile away and Whitetail Campground is about 1.5 miles away.
