Hot Loop is a 7.29-mile singletrack mountain biking route in Arizona's Coconino National Forest, within the Red Rock Ranger District. The trail is an out-and-back that climbs to a high point of 6,201 feet, with a total elevation gain of 2,027 feet over the round trip. The route is rated hard, and it demands advanced technical skills to navigate its rocky sections, steep climbs and technical descents across the arid desert terrain. The trail's profile is a classic Arizona challenge, with loose rock gardens, exposure and unforgiving terrain that punishes mistakes. The steepest stretch comes at about 6.5 miles, with a grade of 28 percent. Riders can turn around early if needed, but the full route is a serious commitment. For timing, late spring and early fall are the most comfortable seasons. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Mund's Park show May highs around 69°F and October highs around 66°F, while July and August bring the most wet days. Hot Loop A #40A, a hike, lies about 0.7 miles away, and Jacks Canyon #55 is about a mile off. Climbers can head to Oak Creek Spire, roughly 1.8 miles away, and Chavez Crossing campground is about 5.7 miles away.
