Hermit Trail is a short, out-and-back mountain biking route in Arizona's Coconino National Forest, within the Red Rock Ranger District. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is listed as a moderate ride. The route is about 0.6 miles long, with a total elevation gain of 67 feet. It starts at about 4,280 feet and peaks near 4,347 feet, and the steepest stretch comes early in the ride, at about 5% grade. The climb is front-loaded, so the bulk of the ascent happens before the halfway point. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to ride. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Sedona show October highs around 79°F and lows near 51°F, with May running hotter at about 84°F by day. Summer highs there reach the mid-90s. Several other destinations sit close by. The Hermit #172E hike and the Templeton Trail are each about 0.1 mile away. Climbers can head to Bell Rock / Courthouse Butte, about 0.8 mile off, and Chavez Crossing campground is about 2.2 miles away.
