Sears is a hard hike in the Cave Creek Ranger District of Tonto National Forest in Arizona, managed by the Forest Service. The route is an out-and-back of about 16 miles, with a total elevation gain of 1,874 feet, taking you from a low point of 1,966 feet to a high of 4,114 feet. The trail is natural-surfaced and does not allow bikes. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 79°F and October highs around 74°F, while July averages about 91°F and January highs sit near 54°F. Several other destinations lie within a few miles. Davenport is about a mile away, and Copper Camp and Fig Spring are both within 3 miles. Horseshoe Campground, about 3.4 miles off, is the closest place to camp.
