Rose Spring is a 4.5-mile loop hike in the Bear Wallow Wilderness, part of the Clifton Ranger District of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests in eastern Arizona. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is rated moderate, with a total elevation gain of 762 feet from a low point of about 7,857 feet to a high of about 8,795 feet. The trail is natural-surface and allows horses, but not bikes. It is not an accessible route. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from the nearby Alpine, AZ weather station, which sits about 750 feet lower than the trail's high point, show May highs around 69°F and October highs around 64°F, while July and August bring the most wet days. Turkey Spring Trail and Highline, both mountain biking routes, lie within about 2 miles. Eagle National Recreation Trail and McBride Mesa are also about 2 miles away.
