Reno is a moderate out-and-back hike in Arizona's Bear Wallow Wilderness, on the Alpine Ranger District of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests. The trail is about 3.8 miles long, with a one-way gain of 1,113 feet, and it rises from a low point of 7,762 feet to a high of 8,885 feet. The steepest section comes at about 1.7 miles, with a grade of 25 percent. The route is on natural surface, and the Forest Service reports it is not accessible. Horses are allowed, but bikes are not. The most comfortable stretch for a visit is summer, when typical averages from a nearby weather station run around 71°F for highs and 44°F for lows in July. That station sits at a similar elevation as the trail, so temperatures here should run about the same. The Reno Trail Trailhead, marked as Reno Trail TH, is the trail's parking area and is open year-round. Plan on about 2.5 hours for the round trip. Nearby, Bear Wallow and Gobbler Point are both within about 2.5 miles. Rose Spring is about 3.4 miles away, and Kp Cienega Campground is roughly 4.9 miles away.
