Phoneline is a hard hike of about 8 miles round trip in the Santa Catalina Ranger District of Coronado National Forest in Arizona. It rises from 2,687 feet to 3,671 feet, a gain of about 930 feet. The trail is an out-and-back on natural surface, and it is not an accessible trail. The most comfortable stretch for a visit runs from late fall through spring. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show highs around 65°F in December and 74°F in March, while summer highs climb to about 100°F from June through August. The trail sits close to the Sabino Canyon Recreation Area, with Sabino Lake, Sabino Dam and the Bluff all within half a mile. For an overnight stay, Cactus Ramada 1 and Cactus Ramada 2 are about 0.6 miles away. Climbers can head to Sabino Canyon, roughly 2.4 miles off.
