Maverick Motorized is a short, easy out-and-back hike in the Black Mesa Ranger District of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests in eastern Arizona, managed by the Forest Service. The route is about a mile long, with a low point of 6,402 feet and a high of 6,466 feet, so the climb is gentle, with only about 46 feet of elevation gain one way. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Heber put May highs around 71°F and October highs around 67°F, while winter highs sit in the mid-40s. The Maverick OHV Trail starts just 0.1 mile away. Cottonwood and Juniper Ridge Trail are both within about 5 miles, and Lewis Canyon campground is about 5.5 miles off.
