Timber Mesa Trail is a hard hike of about 15 miles in the Lakeside Ranger District of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests in eastern Arizona, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is an out-and-back, with a low point of about 6,760 feet and a high of about 7,013 feet, and it gains roughly 436 feet in elevation. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Pinetop show May highs around 71°F and October highs around 66°F, while July and August bring the most wet days, about 13 to 16 a month. The trail sits close to several other routes and camps. The Osprey Connector Trail and Porter Mountain Motorized are each about 0.2 miles away, and Scott Reservoir campground is about 0.7 miles off. Ice Cave Trail is about 1.1 miles away.
