Knagge is a hard hike in Arizona's Coronado National Forest, within the Santa Catalina Ranger District. The route is an out-and-back of about 8.4 miles, with a total elevation gain of 7,584 feet. The trail starts near 8,067 feet and climbs to a high point of 8,073 feet, so the climb is steep from the outset, with the steepest stretch at about 0.26 miles in. The trail is on natural surface and is open to both horses and bikes. It is not an accessible trail. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is open year-round. Parking is at the Incinerator Ridge trailhead, and the estimated time for the trip is about 6.5 hours. For comfortable weather, late spring and early fall are the best bets. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Mt Lemmon Willow Canyon, which sits about 1,000 feet lower, show May highs around 71°F and October highs around 68°F, with lows near 50°F. The trail sits right next to the Travis Walton and Vista Boulder climbing areas, and the Kellogg mountain biking area is about 0.3 miles away. Palisades Ranger Residence Cabin is about 0.7 miles off.
