Isolation is a 4.5-mile out-and-back hike in the Alpine Ranger District of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests in eastern Arizona. The route gains about 550 feet in elevation, and the Forest Service manages the land. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from the nearby Alpine, AZ weather station show May highs around 69°F and September highs around 72°F, with July and August bringing the most wet days. Several other outings sit close by. The Valley Bike mountain bike trail is about 0.4 miles away, the Lookout Meadow Loop hike is about half a mile off, and the High Road cross-country ski trail is about 0.5 miles away. For camping, Diamond Rock Campground is roughly 4.7 miles from the trail.
