HT #197 is a short, easy hike in the Red Rock Ranger District of Coconino National Forest in Arizona, about 1.5 miles long with a total elevation gain of about 25 feet. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is an out-and-back that starts and ends at roughly the same point, with the high point at about 4,218 feet and the low at about 4,159 feet. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Sedona show April highs around 75°F and October highs around 79°F, while July averages climb to about 97°F. The trail is open to both horses and bikes. HT Trail and Easy Breezy, two mountain biking routes, sit within a quarter mile. Climbers can find Mace, The and South Mesa about a mile away.
