Griffith Spring is an easy, out-and-back hike of about 2.1 miles in the Flagstaff Ranger District of Coconino National Forest in Arizona, managed by the Forest Service. The trail rises about 36 feet from a low point at 6,834 feet to a high of 6,922 feet, so it's a gentle walk that works well as a short outing or as a way to reach the climbing at Griffith Springs, just 0.3 miles away. For comfortable weather, late spring and early fall are the sweet spots. Typical averages from the nearby Flagstaff airport weather station, at a similar elevation, put May highs around 68°F and October highs around 64°F. July and August are warmer, with highs in the upper 70s, but they also bring the most wet days of the year. The Griffith Spring Trailhead is the trail's starting point, and the parking area is labeled Griffith Spring. Several other options sit within a few miles, including the Highland West and Highland hikes and the climbing at Griffith Springs.
