Dogie is a hiking route in the Red Rock Ranger District of Arizona's Coconino National Forest. The route runs about 10.4 miles out and back on a natural surface and is rated hard, mostly for its length. Elevation gain is modest at about 150 feet one way. Along the way the trail ranges between a low point of about 4,190 feet and a high point near 4,900 feet. Because you return the way you came, plan for a long day on the same ground in both directions. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Jerome, at a similar elevation, show April highs around 68°F and October highs around 71°F, while July averages climb past 90°F. Casner Mountain is less than a mile away, and Robbers Roost Trail and Mooney #12 are also close by. Climbers can head about 7 miles to Fay Buttress.
