Casner Mountain is a hard hike in the Red Rock Ranger District of Coconino National Forest in Arizona. The out-and-back route climbs from about 4,800 feet to roughly 6,800 feet, with a total elevation gain of 2,046 feet over 13.8 miles. The trail is on natural ground, and the Forest Service manages the land. The most comfortable months for the trip are late spring and early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Mund's Park run from highs around 69°F in May to about 76°F in September, with the lowest point in the month of May at 34°F. The station sits about 340 feet lower than the peak, so temperatures up high run a little cooler. The trailhead parking is named Casner Mountain. Two other hikes start close by: Dogie is 0.7 miles away and Robbers Roost Trail is 0.9 miles away. Climbers can head to Fay Buttress, about 6 miles off, or Bear Mountain Area, roughly 6.4 miles away.
