Crabtree is a 9.8-mile out-and-back hike on natural trail in the Clifton Ranger District of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests in eastern Arizona. The route rises from about 6,200 feet to roughly 7,470 feet, and the Forest Service lists it as a hard hike. The trail is open year round, and the Forest Service reports that horses and bikes are both allowed. It is not an accessible route. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Alpine, AZ, show May highs around 69°F with lows near 31°F, and October highs around 64°F with lows near 30°F. Midsummer brings highs around 78°F but also the most wet days, with July averaging 13 and August 15. Crabtree Park Trail lies just 0.3 miles away, and Highline is 0.8 miles off. Strayhorse Campground is about a mile away, and Raspberry is roughly the same distance.
